Lá Fhéile Bríde

Amárach Lá 'le Bríde. Inné rinneamar crois ar scoil. Chabhraigh na tuismitheoirí linn agus bhí áthas an domhain orainn leo.

Here is the song that we sing to Brigid. It is a lovely song that we sing every to welcome St. Brigid's Day and the first day of Spring.

Lyrics

We sing a song to Brigid,
Brigid brings the spring
Awakens all the fields and the flowers
And calls the birds to sing.

All were welcome at her door,
no one was turned away.
She loved the poor, the sick and the sore,
She helped them on their way.

She laid her cloak out on the ground
And watched it grow and grow,
In wells and streams and fields of green
St. Brigid’s blessings flow.

Spraoi sa Sneachta

We have had lots of fun in the snow recently! Thankfully the school has not had a 'Snow Day' this school year. We have really enjoyed the cold weather and built plenty of snowmen. The above snowman was christened President Frosty Olaf Snow by the boys.

Solas Art Gallery

We have entered our art into an exhibition in Solas Art Gallery which is on Main Street in Ballinamore. It is upstairs in Four Seasons Florists. Our work is being displayed beside other pupils' work from different schools. It finishes on Wednesday. Don't call today and make the same mistake we did! The Florist closes on Mondays!

Happy New Year to our readers!

Happy 2015 to you all. The blog hasn't been updated in a little while so we have plenty of news and pictures for you all. Our Christmas musical was a wonderful success. We are proud of every boy and how they performed and behaved on the night. It was very well attended. We wish to thank all families and friends who attended for their generosity. Thanks also to the Parents' Assocation for organising the raffle and providing the children with treats on the night. We look forward to seeing it on DVD soon.

A Time to Give

Christmas is a time for giving and not just to family and friends. In St. Patrick's B.N.S. we do our best to think of those who are in need. We have recently taken part in the Team Hope Christmas Shoebox Appeal. (See recent post) Part of the voluntary admission to our Musical will also be donated locally.

One week to go...

We are very busy at school this time of year and even more so as we prepare to perform our version of Oliver the Musical for our parents, brothers, sisters, grandparents etc on Wednesday the 17th of December. We have been been learning songs, actions and lines along with doing school work. So we will really deserve a holiday when the 19th of December comes along!

Oliver costumes

We are holding our first dress rehearsal tomorrow for Oliver during school time. It is important that children have a costume as soon as possible. The following pictures may give you an idea of what is suitable. We do not expect parents to purchase costumes. Old shirts, trousers that can be cut up, scarves, fingerless gloves, flat caps, waistcoats, old clothes that are too small, hankerchiefs, neckties etc will all make good costumes.
